Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month

The MFA marks Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating Latinx communities in Boston and across the United States. Join us on September 18 for Latinx Heritage Night featuring music, dance, and more in partnership with We Are ALX and Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción. CineFest Latino Boston returns on September 26 and 27, highlighting stories by and about Latinos. Visitors can also view Ismael Muhammad Nieves’s work In Despair, She Returned to Ismael, which reflects the story of Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria through the story of Hajar and her infant son, the Prophet Ismael.

All month you can explore our MFA Mobile tour celebrating Latin American and Latinx artists in the collection, including a vessel by Philadelphia-based ceramicist Roberto Lugo.
