The MFA offers bus funding grants to assist schools bringing student groups to the Museum for school field trips.
Boston Public Schools and Lawrence Public Schools are reimbursed for all bus costs for both guided and self-guided field trips.
For Title I schools in other districts, bus grants for guided field trips are available up to $1,250 per visit from October through March, and up to $1,000 per visit from April through June.
Limited funding for bus grants up to $400 is available on a first-come, first-served basis for self-guided field trips for Title I Schools in Massachusetts.
Artful Adventures and Home School visits are not eligible for bus grants.
This is a rolling application process. Completed applications will be processed within approximately two weeks of receipt by Museum staff.
Upon notification of grant approval, schools are responsible for bus transportation arrangements. Reimbursement will be made after the date of the group visit. In order to receive the reimbursement, please e-mail a copy of the receipt to [email protected] or send the receipt, clearly marked and accompanied by your name and mailing address, to the attention of School Programs, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 465 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115. All receipts must be received within 90 days of your visit.
The Bernard J. Rothwell School Bus Fund subsidizes bus transportation for school groups visiting the Museum for a guided tour. The fund was established in 2006 through the generosity of the Paul Taylor and Adeline Gertrude Magrane Rothwell Philanthropic Fund at the recommendation of an MFA Gallery Instructor.
