MFA Boston Closing 6 pm, March 12

BOSTON (March 12, 2020)—Due to ongoing concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will close tonight, March 12, at 6 pm. The Museum will remain closed for up to 30 days. Given the rapidly changing nature of the outbreak, we will carefully reassess the situation in the coming weeks and share updates as they become available. This decision was made in consultation with other Boston-area museums and sister institutions across the US. While the Museum is closed during this period and all events are cancelled or postponed, the MFA’s salaried, hourly, temporary and union employees will continue to be compensated.

Museum security and climate systems will be fully maintained throughout the closure, ensuring the safety of all works of art in the building. The MFA’s visitors, members, staff and volunteers are our top priority, and we will continue to monitor new developments closely.
