MFA Boston Offers Free Admission to "Fabric of a Nation" on November 26

BOSTON (November 10, 2021)—The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), is offering free admission to Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories on November 26, thanks to Chase, the lead exhibition sponsor. Additionally, families are invited to stop by the Shapiro Family Courtyard between 10 am and 3 pm to pick up free quilt-inspired art-making kits for children of all ages. Free general admission and timed-entry tickets to Fabric of a Nation will be available in advance online beginning November 23 at 10 am through 10 am the day of the event, and tickets will also be available in person on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Experiencing our shared history through art gives us a unique perspective on how different people experience the world,” said Roxann Cooke, Region Director for Chase Bank in New England. “Chase is proud to partner with the MFA to bring complimentary access to this creative and impactful exhibit on November 26.”

Fabric of a Nation, on view through January 17, 2022, showcases 50 remarkable works created by women and men, known individuals and those yet to be identified, urban and rural makers, and members of the Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian and LGBTQIA+ communities. The exhibition explores how the quilt, which is often seen today as a timeless, quintessentially “American” art form, has in fact continuously evolved, shaped by a broadly underrecognized diversity of artistic hands and minds. Dating from the 17th century to the present day, the masterpieces on view reveal a rich—and richly complicated—story of the nation’s shared history, contributing to the evolving conversation about what defines the American experience.

Chase Free Admission Day is generously supported by Chase.

“Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories” is sponsored by Chase. Generously supported by Carolyn and Peter Lynch and the Lynch Foundation, and The Coby Foundation.
