Sneak Peek: 2018 Summer Party

Museum Council

The Summer Party is back on June 9, 2018!

This year’s event includes an open bar, dessert, late-night bites, and a juried silent art auction showcasing works by emerging and established artists. Dance the night away with DJ Rich DiMare and engage with performance artists throughout the evening.

New this year, VIP ticket holders have the opportunity to participate in interactive art making with Artists for Humanity and view works of art that have never been on view to the public, all during the VIP reception in the elegant William I. Koch Gallery.

This year’s theme—“Art Transforms”—is inspired by the MFA’s Art of the Ancient Americas collection, which reflects the diversity and sophistication of art created prior to European contact. Featuring works of pottery, gold, stonework, and jade made by ancient cultures in Mesoamerica (modern-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras) and South America, the Art of the Ancient Americas collection represents the creative expressions of many cultures over thousands of years. Many of the objects depict spiritual transformation or are pivotal in creating a transformed state. During the party, guests are encouraged to visit the galleries in the lower level of the Art of the Americas Wing.

The theme also connotes the power of art to create social impact and drive community engagement. This year’s Summer Party features collaborations with local artists and nonprofit arts organizations in Boston. We hope the Summer Party reflects a spirit of collaboration, transformation, and generosity.

Proceeds from the Summer Party provides crucial support for the MFA’s exhibitions, community programs, and conservation initiatives.
