Hear from the Curator

Erica Hirshler, Croll Senior Curator of American Paintings, and curator of "William Merritt Chase" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, introduces us to the world of the great American painter and teacher. She describes the variety of moods Chase creates in his paintings, from elegant interior scenes featuring the elaborate furnishings of his New York studio, and dark, dramatic portraits, as well as the light, bright, freely painted Impressionistic landscapes set in city parks and Long Island beaches.
