Ancient Nubia Emerges

Taken between 1913 and 1936 during the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts expedition, the archival photographs in this video capture the drama and excitement of discovery. But the story of ancient Nubia doesn’t begin—or end—there. The magnificent jewelry, pottery, metalwork, and sculpture made over thousands of years of Nubian history reflect another perspective, as do the contemporary images by Chester Higgins from sites along the Nile River.
