In the late 90's, Photographer William Wegman began making large-format Polaroid portraits of his dogs dressed in contemporary designer fashions. This exhibition, which featured the artist's favorite models wearing couture clothing as well as stylish hats, handbags and shoes, was organized as a complement to the exhibition "The Look, Images of Style and Glamour."
The deadpan humor of these images, combined with the glamour of the costumes and poses, make them unforgettable comments on the world of fashion. According to the artist, dogs are "perfect fashion models. Their elegant slinky forms are covered in gray-- and gray, everyone knows, goes with everything."
