Presented at the Copley Society of Art on Newbury Street, this exhibition features artwork by MFA staff who explore the idea of emergence—the process of coming into being or arriving at an understanding—through a variety of media including painting, photography, textiles, works on paper, and mixed media. The 37 artworks on view were curated by three jurors: Barry Gaither, director and curator, Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, and special consultant, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Kaitlyn Clark, exhibitions manager, Tufts University Art Galleries; and Max Stern, artist and board of governors member, Copley Society of Art. The exhibition highlights the talent and knowledge of artists with a unique connection to arts and culture, having long witnessed, taken care of, and appreciated work in the MFA’s collections.
