Artful Adventures offers specially designed in-person home school classes for kids and teens. Taught by trained Museum educators, these age-appropriate programs last two hours, include a pre-tour activity, gallery exploration, and a related art lesson. Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up.

June 2, 2022—Water Worlds
Discover how artists capture the dramatic play of light on water while learning more about the role of water in the development of Impressionism. Then explore different techniques for using watercolor paints to make maritime scenes of your own!
June 9, 2022—Jewels Under the Sea
The strikingly shaped starfish is one of the many sea creatures who lend their shape to adornments and jewelry throughout many cultures. We’ll look at the luxe gold, ruby, and amethyst starfish brooch, designed by renowned jeweler Juliette Moutard for actress Claudette Colbert, and then create our own water creature-inspired jewelry from aqua resin, wire and beads!
June 16, 2022—Unique Felt
Felt is one of the oldest methods of creating durable, warm, and easily shaped cloth. Take a closer look at some of the stylish ways felt has been used, worn, and depicted in art. Then create your own shaped vessels using wool roving, water and soap.
June 23, 2022—Water-based Ink Monoprints
Take a closer look at watery scenes from around the world and discover some of the ways that artists have depicted water in their art. Then create prints using a unique water-based marker transfer method!

Each four-session ticket package must be purchased in advance, and is only available for sale online until noon on the Monday before the first session.
Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up. Supplies are provided.
We regret that there is no make-up, refund, or rescheduling for classes missed by a child, even those due to inclement weather. Refunds are given only if the class is cancelled by the MFA.
