Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up.

Instructor: Liam Jones and Yael Saiger

Class Schedule

May 18, 2023—Art From Broken Pieces

Explore artwork from Japan and Korea then create a piece of your own inspired by the art of repairing broken pottery with gold known as Kintsugi or “golden repair.” Are broken fragments still art?

June 1, 2023—Upcycled Materials

Discover how new objects can be made from old ones while taking a look at massive installations and unique artwork made entirely from recycled materials. Then learn the art of papermaking while transforming recycled paper into something new!

June 8, 2023—Broken Artifacts

Some ancient artifacts on view in the galleries are incomplete due to pieces that have been broken or lost over time. Take a closer look at some of these pieces while imagining what they might have looked like a long time ago. Then use your imagination to draw the missing parts of pictures in the studio.

June 15, 2023—Everyday Items

Explore the galleries in search of artists that have made the form of everyday objects seem more beautiful and important than their function. Then transform a household object into your own exquisite work of art.

Supplies are provided.
