In addition to the Japanese prints on view on a rotating basis, the MFA is also the home to a special collection that is never on view in the galleries given to us in 1921 by the brothers William S. and John T. Spaulding. In order to preserve their fragile colors, the Spaulding prints may only be shown privately by special arrangement. In connection with the exhibition “Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence,” enjoy an opportunity to look at works from this special collection by Hokusai and the students and rivals who were influenced by him.
This program is scheduled to be an in-person event, however details may be subject to change.
