Learn how to translate the complexity of a landscape into a coherent statement. Focus on simplifying images of landscapes to determine composition, and the difference between a shape, a value, and a color. Then working in acrylics, learn how to use color effectively by examining color relationships, mixing colors and different color schemes and choices. This workshop meets inside the Museum and does not paint offsite outdoors.

About the Instructor

George Hancin is a painter concentrating on urban, suburban, and rural landscapes that explore how light, shadow, and time describe a place and set a mood. George received an art education degree from Kent State, a painting degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and completed his masters at Yale in the 80s. George has been a member at Bromfield Gallery and has shown his work in solo and group shows at the Amos Enos Gallery, Attleboro Art Center, Montserrat, among others. George is currently an adult continuing education and high school art teacher.
