Application Form
The MFA offers funding to assist schools in need that want to bring student groups to the Museum for guided school field trips. At this time, school groups visiting through March 2024 may be eligible for grants of up to $1,250 per visit. School groups visiting between the months of April and June 2024 may be eligible for grants of up to $1,000 per visit. Grants are awarded based on a group’s demonstrated need (such as Title I status) and total transportation costs.
Bus grants are available for guided school field trips only. Grants for Artful Adventures visits are not available at this time. Please be sure to book your group visit before submitting the Bus Fund application form.
Lawrence Public Schools may be eligible for reimbursement of bus expenses for both guided and self-guided visits. Please indicate below if your group is from Lawrence Public Schools.
This is a rolling application process. Completed applications will be processed within approximately two weeks of receipt by Museum staff.
Upon notification of grant approval, schools are responsible for bus transportation arrangements. Reimbursement will be made after the date of the group visit. In order to receive the reimbursement, please e-mail a copy of the receipt to teacherresources@mfa.org or send the receipt, clearly marked and accompanied by your name and mailing address, to the attention of School Programs, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 465 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115. All receipts must be received within 90 days of your visit.
The Bernard J. Rothwell School Bus Fund subsidizes bus transportation for school groups visiting the Museum for a guided tour. The fund was established in 2006 through the generosity of the Paul Taylor and Adeline Gertrude Magrane Rothwell Philanthropic Fund at the recommendation of an MFA Gallery Instructor.
