MFA Playdates at Home

Enjoy MFA Playdates through 15-minute videos posted online every couple of weeks. Toddlers and caregivers enjoy story time, look at art together, and participate in an art-making activity led step-by-step by a Museum educator. Each MFA Playdate focuses on a specific theme. Recommended for children ages 4 and under with adults. Art-making activities use materials commonly found at home. In addition to watching the video to see exactly how to make your art project, you can download the art-making instructions or read them online.

In this MFA Playdates at Home, after reading the book Lines That Wiggle, we look at the artwork 715 Washington Street, Greenwich Village by Walter Augustus Simon, which is full of lines and shapes. Then we get step-by-step instructions on how to start a very special line journal using materials you have at home.

In the Meadow

In this MFA Playdates at Home, we read the book My Heart Fills with Happiness and ask: What makes you happy? Then we head outside to learn more about Monet and get step-by-step instructions on how to make a sidewalk chalk drawing of flowers, beautifying your neighborhood along the way!

Animals

This animal-themed activity invites you to go wild! After reading Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown, we look at an ancient Greek lion in the Museum's collection. Then we learn how to make a lion or a different animal from a tissue box and other materials you probably have at home.

Flower Garden

In this MFA Playdates at Home, we read the story Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt, and then we look at a colorful painting of flowers and make a flower crown using materials you can find in your home!
