Combine the technical drawing techniques of dip pen with the painting skills of watercolor. Explore perspective, shapes, illustrative pen execution, and basic watercolor exercises. Learn the foundational use of dip pen and watercolors with brush while working from still lives, landscapes, and figures, along with inspiration from the Museum’s Collection.

Ticket Information

Registration for February, April, and Summer vacation week classes ends at Noon the Friday before the class starts.

All ticket sales are final. Tickets may not be refunded, are nontransferable, nor may they be resold.

Accessibility

Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor

Eli Portman was born and raised in the Greater Boston area. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelors Degree in studio art in the spring of 2014. Portman has created murals and custom artwork for local businesses and events, and displayed his work in universities, libraries, cafes, and art galleries all over the city of Boston. He is a member of the Copley Society of Art, and regularly has his illustrations published in various media. He specializes in illustrations of city scenes and watercolor landscapes.
