One of every artist’s favorite muses is the human figure. Examine a survey of contemporary works from the MFA collection to gain inspiration from representational to more metaphorical self-portraits. In the studio, learn proportions of the figure, basic anatomy, and draw from observation.

Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor

Gianna Stewart is a Boston-based artist, with a growing interest in public art. She received her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2014, and a BFA from Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA.
