Be inspired by artistic movements such as abstract expressionism and get physical with materials! Loosen up with action-inspired gestural art and move beyond splatter paintings of Jackson Pollock to learn about the key roles artists such as Joan Mitchell played in the movement. Roll up your sleeves to appreciate the wonders of spontaneous mark making and color relationships!

Please provide a nut-free lunch, snacks, utensils, water bottle, extra masks, smock and picnic blanket.

Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor

Elissa Na is an art educator living and working in the greater Boston area. She graduated from Smith College with a BA in Architecture, and obtained a MAT in Art Education from the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Since obtaining her educator license, Elissa has taught a wide range of art styles and media to preschool through 8th grade students. In her free time, she enjoys creating small figure drawings and sharing them through social media. Elissa currently works as a visual art teacher at Blessed Sacrament School in Walpole.
