In this two-day workshop learn how to paint realistic ocean waves. Work on color mixing to capture the ocean’s hues as well as learn to paint simple waves. During the second part of the workshop, create a fully developed painting of waves using photo references provided. Learn about the construction or “anatomy” of a wave, painting foam, and splashes. Workshops consist of a lecture, one-on-one critiques, handouts and references to seascape paintings from the MFA’s collection.

About the Instructor
Livia Mosanu is an artist and art educator holding a Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art in New York City. She is currently working on a series of large-scale oil paintings in which she explores the connection between us and our surrounding bodies of water, in particular the Atlantic Ocean. Her works are on exhibit in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and in many private collections worldwide. She is a finalist in the 8th International Painting Annual published by Manifest Gallery and a recipient of grant awards from the New York Academy of Art and the Art Students League. A native of Bucharest, Romania, she currently resides in Natick, MA.
