Explore traditional landscape painting by taking inspiration from the collection, your favorite places, and personal photos. Learn the fundamentals of color theory by examining color charts, complimentary colors, analogous colors, color temperature, intensity, and neutral colors. Incorporate various painting techniques with light, value, and scale to convey mood and depth.

Class will break for a short lunch.

Registration for February, April, and Summer vacation week classes ends at Noon the Friday before the class starts.

About the Instructor

John Jameson is a contemporary artist who focuses on seascape and portraiture as his primary subjects. His paintings are characterized by their strong emphasis on color, boldly organized compositions, and rich networks of textured brushwork. His paintings have been shown in Boston, New York, Newport (Rhode Island), and Kamakura (Japan). Currently he works and shows in New Bedford, Massachusetts. John received his BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and his MFA from the New York Academy of Art.
