Explore classical architecture through free-hand drawings and develop techniques and skills necessary using various media including graphite pencils and charcoal. Drawings, paintings, sculpture, and architectural masterworks throughout the Museum serve as study subjects, enabling you to comprehend and experience the rules and principles of Classical design.

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the classical tradition in architecture, urbanism and their allied arts through education, publication, and advocacy.

Kahlil Hamady is the principal of Hamady Architects LLC. He is a practicing architect, registered in the states of Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Virginia. His firm has received many awards including four Stanford White Awards in 2013, 2014, and 2016, the 2014 inaugural John Russell Pope Award, as well as the prestigious 2015 Palladio Award. The firm’s works has been published in national and regional publications including Veranda, Period Homes, Southern Living, Albemarle, and Connecticut Cottages and Gardens. The recently published book, “An Ideal Collaboration: The Art of Classical Details” by Philip James Dodd, includes two of the firm’s projects and an article by Kahlil on the interrelationships of architecture, interiors, and landscape design. Kahlil has served on the National Board of Directors of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), and has taught several drawing courses for the ICAA. In 2016 he led the Paris Drawing Tour, which he developed for the ICAA. Kahlil has also taught theory courses at the University of Virginia Department of Continuing Education and a drawing class at the Boston Architectural College Continuing Education Department. He holds a BA from Texas A&M University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Leslie-jon Vickory is a senior interior architectural designer at the firm of Hamady Architects LLC and a major contributor in design and illustration of the firm’s award winning projects with twenty years of practice and teaching. Her work has focused on projects in the US and abroad—several of which having received the ICAA’s Stanford White Award and the Bulfinch Award, as well as the Palladio Award. Leslie-jon is an instructor in a range of programs for the ICAA, including a two-day conference at the Ames-Webster Mansion, and the 2016 inaugural Paris Drawing tour. During the seven years she served on the faculty of Boston Architectural College, teaching Residential Construction, design studio, and illustration, Leslie-jon created a study abroad program in France for Residential Interiors and Decorative Arts students. Her design work has been featured in Boston Magazine and New England Home Magazine. Her interior watercolors have been published in “An Ideal Collaboration: The Art of Classical Details” by Philip James Dodd. Leslie-jon travels to France several times each year to study architecture, design, drawing and painting. In addition, through her design firm, VITRUVIA, Leslie-jon offers clients inspired interiors in the Classical tradition.
