Drawing exclusively in the galleries, concentrate on practicing the basic fundamentals of line, gesture, shading, texture, color, proportion, and composition. Combine and build upon these drawing fundamentals, and learn to practice a variety of techniques while exploring different media. Draw inspiration from artwork and explore themes of the MFA collections.

About the Instructor
Emily Auchincloss is an artist and art educator living and working in Boston, MA, and was born in New York, NY. She received her MFA and a Master’s in Art History from Pratt Institute. Auchincloss’s paintings and weavings have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work is included in the exhibition “A Wild Note of Longing” on Albert Pinkham Ryder and his influence at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Recent exhibitions include a two-person show, “Anima Mundi,” at Kate Oh Gallery in New York; “The Idiosyncratic Pencil” at Elizabeth Stone Harper Gallery, South Carolina; The Pratt Juried Alumni Exhibition; “Lost Cat” at the Cape Cod Museum of Art; and Pulp Painting” at Studio Apothiki, Cypress.
