Explore the traditional medium of drawing with charcoal. Learn techniques for achieving depth and tonal values through shading. Create dimensional compositions from observation and portraiture while gaining inspiration from work in the collection.
Students are responsible for providing their own supplies. View the supply list here.

Ticket Information
Registration for February, April, and Summer vacation week classes ends at Noon the Friday before the class starts.

All ticket sales are final. Tickets may not be refunded, are nontransferable, nor may they be resold.
Accessibility
Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor
Marley Slade is an artist, illustrator, and designer from Connecticut. She studied fine art and computer science at Connecticut College. Before moving to Boston Marley was traveling the world and working as a freelance graphic designer. She loves creating large scale charcoal portraits, digital illustrations, animation, and augmented reality. When Marley’s not busy creating you can find her roller skating or reading on the beach!
