Tucked in a corner of the “Impressionism and Beyond gallery are two portraits of a married couple by Vincent van Gogh, both painted in lively contrasting colors. Conservators and conservation scientists are exploring the materials the artist used in order to study how they have aged and possibly discolored over time. Were the flowers behind her once a vibrant pink? Was his jacket always that deep blue? Learn about the latest findings and reflect on the questions that have yet to be answered.

With Rachel Childers, assistant conservator, Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Paintings Conservation Studio.

Free with general admission. No advance registration or tickets required. Talks meet at Sharf Visitor Center.
