Discover the wide variety of patterns and shapes in art! All are invited to February Vacation Week for free activities exploring playful designs.

All ages and abilities welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.


Drop-In Art Making

Use patterned paper and mixed media to create a collage inspired by “Dinorá Justice: The Lay of the Land” in Gallery 168, an exhibition featuring feminine figures, lush natural environments, and rich marbled patterns.

Weaving Circles

Shapiro Family Courtyard

Learn how to create a handwoven piece of art on a circular loom using brightly colored yarn and beaded embellishments. What patterns and textures will you create?

Hand-Stamped Tote Bags

Use premade stamps in a variety of shapes and sizes to create customized mini canvas tote bags!

One-of-a-Kind Stamps

Ages 12 and up only

Create a customized stamp by carving a design into Soft-Kut linoleum. Then use it to decorate a tote bag next door in Druker Studios, Room 159! Please note, linoleum cutters are sharp! This activity is only for visitors ages 12 and up.

Drop-In Activity: Sky, Sea, Earth, Tree—Patterns in Nature, Art, and Movement

Occurs every day but Saturday, February 24

Riley Seminar Room

Take a break with 30 minutes of art-inspired movement and mindfulness. Join an MFA educator in practicing gentle yoga poses connected to the sky, sea, earth, and trees in art and nature. Fun for all ages and abilities!

Drop-In Activity: Artist Toolbox Cart

Discover how artists transform colorful pieces of glass into a stained-glass work of art. Drop by to handle the tools and materials that artists use, discuss techniques with knowledgeable staff, and view demonstration pieces and artwork reproductions that reveal how artists create these kinds of objects.

Family Tours

Meet at Sharf Visitor Center

Join us on a family-friendly tour in search of playful patterns and spectacular shapes in art throughout the Museum. Tours are 30 minutes and fun for all ages!
