Recent Berklee College of Music graduate Panagiotis Aivazidis will discuss the history, repertoire, and playing technique of the kanun (or qānūn), a zither played in Turkey and various parts of the Middle East. Aivazidis will demonstrate a modern instrument from his own collection, as well as an important example from the early 20th century, recently acquired by the MFA.
