To what extent is the art of a culture conditioned by the structure and principles of presiding leadership? How do artists work for, or against, prevailing issues; what visual imagery comes forth? Look for new perspectives and provocative dialogue in the arts of MFA’s renowned Asian collections from China, India, and Islamic cultures. Do the best arts arise from times of trouble, or peace? The arts of Asia provide some insights.
