A masterpiece of Northern Renaissance painting arrived in 1893, the extraordinary contents of an Egyptian tomb in 1921, Jackson Pollock’s Number 10 in 1971, and a rich collection of Benin bronzes in 2012. As we enter the MFA’s anniversary year, take a close look at emblematic objects from 150 years—some iconic, some less familiar. Focus in each session on relevant periods: the early years in Copley Square, 1910 to World War II, the second half of the 20th century, and the first decades of the 21st. Consider what it might have meant to see these objects at the MFA when they first arrived—and what they mean to us now.
