In partnership with the SMFA at Tufts, the MFA is excited to host an evening with Nymphia Wind, season 16 winner and reigning queen of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Wind, the first winner of East Asian descent and second winner of Asian descent of the American Drag Race franchise, creates many of her own looks, usually drawing inspiration from Taiwanese culture, with many garments taking the form of a banana or the color yellow.
Hear from Nymphia Wind as she explores the history of drag artistry, considers its relevance in contemporary culture, and shares her own journey as a drag performer.
