Directed by Terrence Malick (USA, 1978, 94 min.). 35mm.
Dispassionately told from the point of view of a child (Linda Manz), Days of Heaven is a poetic story of love and murder set against the sweeping farmlands of Texas in 1916. Starring a young Richard Gere, Brooke Adams, and Sam Shepard, it is a celebrated example of the power of subtlety. Malick’s painterly use of light and atmosphere has moved critics throughout the decades to describe Days of Heaven as one of the most beautiful films ever made.
