Activate classroom conversations with the art of Boston artist John Wilson, whose work can resonate with students’ experiences today: his art displays his search for identity as an artist, Black man, parent, and American, while also exploring disenfranchisement, racial prejudice, and social injustice. During this two-hour workshop, gain tools for teaching with John Wilson’s artwork from the special exhibition “Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson.” Through inquiry-based gallery activities, discussions with colleagues, and valuable background context from MFA curators, come away ready to utilize related digital resources for the classroom and plan guided and self-guided field trips to the MFA. Workshop includes admission to the MFA, light refreshments, and discounted parking.
