The stories of quilts–both on their surfaces and behind their making–can help recast dominant narratives of history and of artistic practice. Gain new perspectives through close consideration of quilts from the exhibition “Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories” and through making, using materials at home. L’Merchie Frazier, Boston-based educator, artist, and advisor to the exhibition, will share insights and guide participants in making Hope Story Scrolls Collages. To do so, please have at hand a cleared space or surface to work on; newspaper and magazine clippings; recycled or new fabric pieces; 2" tape (such as duct tape); 1 sheet of colored paper; 1 pair of scissors; ruler; pencil and paper; and a glue stick or paste.

L’Merchie Frazier, visual and performing artist and educator

This session is led via Zoom and includes opportunities for questions and dialogue. Space is limited.
