Visit a pop-up provenance project in the African gallery, followed by short presentations and a roundtable discussion on art and cultural patrimony in the wake of the Sarr-Savoy report on the restitution of African cultural heritage. Presentations include the report’s impact on the art market with Kathryn Gunsch, Teel Curator of African and Oceanic Art; the MFA’s approach to provenance and repatriation claims with Victoria Reed, Monica S. Sadler Curator for Provenance; and a discussion on the effect of the MFA collections on Boston’s Benin Diaspora community with Dr. Arese Carrington.
