The Museum of Fine Arts is open seven days a week:

Monday and Tuesday
10 am-4:45 pm

Wednesday-Friday
10 am-9:45 pm

Saturday and Sunday
10 am-4:45 pm

Please note: beginning October 19, "The Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC" opens at 10:30 am, Monday to Friday.

On March 2, the West Wing entrance closed to the public.
Please enter through the State Street Corporation Fenway Entrance or the renovated Huntington Entrance on the Avenue of the Arts. Learn more about where to enter during construction, purchasing tickets, and availability of services.

The surface parking lot, also being renovated, will be closed until further notice. Please use the garage in the interim.

Galleries are subject to last-minute closings and changes.

Japanese Garden
The Japanese Garden is open for the season from 10 am - 4 pm, weather permitting.

Museum Bookstore & Shop
Open weekdays during regular Museum hours, and until 5:30 pm Saturdays and Sundays.

The Museum is closed on the following holidays:
New Year's Day (January 1)
Patriots' Day (third Monday in April)
Independence Day (July 4)
Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November)
Christmas Day (December 25)

*Youths 7-17 admtted free on weekdays after 3 pm, weekends, and public school holidays

Save time, skip the line. Purchase your admission tickets (adults, seniors, students) and audio guides in advance.

Reservations are required for school and other youth groups.

Wednesday nights after 4 pm admission is by voluntary contribution (suggested donation $20).

Free Community Days in 2009 The Museum offers free admission once per month.

    Audio guides include select exhibition tours, Collection Highlights (also available in Spanish, Japanese, French, and Russian), twenty stops for families, and in-depth explorations of the Classical and Ancient Near Eastern galleries.
    Other Guidelines
    Please follow these guidelines while at the Museum to ensure an enjoyable experience for all visitors.

  • Cell phone use is not allowed within the galleries. Should you need to make or receive a call, please step out of the gallery space.
  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Smoking is not allowed in the Museum, including the courtyards.
  • Food and drink are not allowed in the gallery space unless carried inside a pocket or small bag. Eating and drinking is not allowed in the galleries.

    "Contemporary Outlook: Seeing Songs" is on view in the Foster Gallery July 1, 2009-February 21, 2010.

    Amenities
    ATM: There is a Bank of America ATM machine at the Huntington Entrance.

    Free Coatrooms: Free coatrooms are located at the Fenway and Huntington Entrances. All parcels, umbrellas, backpacks, and other hand-carried bags larger than 11" x 15" must be checked, including backpack-style child carriers. Strollers are permitted. Bags in excess of 11"x15" containing needed medical equipment or for use in nursing or baby care are allowed in the Museum. Please note: the following items cannot be checked: laptop computers, cameras, and other valuables. Musical instruments, fur coats, and imitation fur coats may be checked after signing a waiver form. No tips, please.

    Elevators: Located on the first floor next to Museum Bookstore & Shop; in the Print Corridor off the Lower Rotunda; on the second floor next to Bravo restaurant, off the Upper Rotunda; and in the Evans Wing on the first and second floor hemicycle to the left as you face the stairs.

    Free Gallery Stools: Available at Sharf Visitor Center. Please return all stools after your visit. There are no stools allowed in the Gund Gallery.

    Pay Phones: Located in the Linde Family Wing (formerly the West Wing) and on the second floor by the restrooms outside Bravo restaurant.
    TTY A TTY pay phone is located in the Linde Family Wing former coatroom area.

    Taxi Cabs: Cab company telephone numbers are located in the Fenway and Huntington Entrance coatrooms. Taxi cabs may pick up and drop off passengers at either the Fenway or the Huntington Entrance.

    Free Wheelchairs: Available on a first-come, first-served basis at all entrances. Please return all wheelchairs after your visit. If you have any questions regarding Museum accessibility, please e-mail access@mfa.org.

    Baby-Changing Area: A baby-changing area is located in the stairwell next to the Museum Bookstore & Shop.

    Nursing Room: Mothers seeking to nurse their babies may use our quiet, private nursing room off of the Hemicycle Gallery; ask any staff member for directions.

    International Visitors
    Visitors' Guides in Seven Languages
    Foreign-language visitor guides (with floor plans) are available in Chinese, Deutsch, Español, Français, Japanese, Italiano, and Russian. Guides are available at Sharf Visitor Center.
